Pakistan all-rounder Faheem Ashraf has made a stunning revelation about ace batter Babar Azam, stating that it’s unrealistic to expect him to hit six maximums in an over.
Faheem, who was part of Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, recently appeared on the franchise’s Podcast, where he shed light on different aspects of the game.
The all-rounder, originally from Phoolnagar, Punjab, addressed the debate surrounding Babar Azam’s strike rate and the requirements of modern-day cricket.
“The way Babar plays his shots, if you demand that from me. That is wrong. Similarly, if you ask Babar to hit 6 sixes in an over, that’s wrong. If you ask Babar to stay out there and win the game. He will do it in his own way.” Faheem Ashraf stated.
He further emphasised the role of social media and public criticism affecting the natural game of Babar Azam.
Now, social media and people are saying so much about Babar that he needs to change his game. For this reason, there are a lot of things that are not going in his favour.
“Earlier, Babar’s role was to build the innings, and the whole team was playing around him. If Fakhar Zaman played for a long time, then the match was ours. Now, our people have criticised Babar so much that he is trying to change his game, and for this reason, he is unable to perform in every match,” he said.
For the unversed, Pakistan star batter Babar Azam is under the spotlight for his strike rate in recent times. The 30-year-old last played T20I for Pakistan against South Africa in December 2024. The right-handed batter’s last half-century in the shorter format came against Ireland in 2024.
